Dehradun, Mar 19 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released a Panchang (calendar) on Thursday on the occasion of the Hindu New Year, an official said.
The chief minister described the calendar, brought out by the state Information and Public Relations Department, as a significant step toward preserving and promoting Uttarakhand’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
Speaking at the event, Dhami noted that the state holds a distinct identity both nationally and internationally for its Sanatan traditions, religious beliefs and cultural values.
“These traditions are not merely matters of faith but are integral to our lifestyle, social structure and cultural consciousness. The publication of this Panchang will serve as an effective medium to preserve this glorious heritage and pass it on to the younger generation,” the chief minister said.
The calendar provides details on dates, days, lunar phases, months, festivals and special occasions. It is also designed to familiarise the public with the importance of traditional festivals, fasts, and religious events.
Dhami added that the Panchang features prominent religious and pilgrimage sites of the state, serving as an informative document and a collection showcasing the cultural glimpses of Uttarakhand. PTI DPT AKY
