Shahjahanpur (UP), Apr 7 (PTI) The district administration has recommended the suspension of a government wheat procurement centre in-charge here after it was found that wheat was being procured just outside the facility, officials said on Tuesday.
Additional District Magistrate (administration) Rajneesh Kumar Mishra on Tuesday told PTI that a wheat procurement centre has been established within the ‘mandi’ premises.
Late Monday night, BJP MLA Arvind Kumar Singh visited the site and observed that the procurement centre itself lay deserted, while wheat was actively being procured from a place right outside the ‘mandi’.
A local trader requesting anonymity said that the government-fixed procurement price for wheat stands at Rs 2,585 per quintal, whereas wheat is currently available in the open market at Rs 2,270.
Mishra said he recovered 180 quintals of wheat from the site, noting that government-issued bags had been utilized for packaging the grain.
The ADM (administration) added that a comprehensive inquiry report regarding the incident was submitted to the District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh.
Acting on this report, the district magistrate has recommended the suspension of Tripuresh Tripathi, the in-charge of the wheat procurement centre, he said. PTI COR NAV SKY SKY
