UP: Property dealer shot dead in Prayagraj, police say

Prayagraj (UP), Apr 8 (PTI) A 45-year-old property dealer was allegedly shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Kareli area of this Uttar Pradesh city on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place near the Bismillah crossing in Gaus Nagar, located within the Kareli police station limits, in the evening hours, they added.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Manish Shandilya said police received information that a man was shot at. The injured man was rushed to a hospital, where he died during treatment.

Victim Mohammad Irfan (45) worked as a property dealer, police said, adding that he had disputes with some people over financial transactions related to property deals.

Shandilya said five police teams have been formed to nab the accused and CCTV footage collected from the nearby area is being examined. He asserted that the case would be solved soon.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and further legal proceedings are underway, police said. PTI RAJ CDN RC
