Saharanpur (UP), Mar 27 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested a gym trainer for allegedly raping a woman after rendering her unconscious by mixing an intoxicant in her protein drink, officials said on Friday.
The police have also arrested his accomplice, who kept track of her and assisted the accused in the crime, they said.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain said that a 21-year-old B.Sc Nursing student lodged a complaint at the Biharigarh police station on Wednesday, alleging that she used to visit a gym in the area where she became acquainted with the accused, Shehzad, 28.
Gaining her trust, the accused took her to Dehradun, where he allegedly mixed an intoxicating substance in her protein drink, rendering her unconscious, the complainant said.
Following this, he then took her in a car and allegedly raped her, she said in her complaint.
The woman further alleged that the co-accused, Mukarram, 27, kept track of her movements and assisted Shehzad in the crime.
Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case and arrested both the accused, the SP said.
