Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Mar 13 (PTI) A court here has sentenced a father-son duo to life imprisonment for murdering a man in Chaukhriya village in 2018.
District government counsel, criminal, Arvind Tripathi on Friday said two others were acquitted in the murder case of villager Ramesh Yadav.
District and Sessions Judge Shiva Kumar Singh on Wednesday held Virendra Singh and his son Layak Singh guilty of murder, and sentenced them to life imprisonment, Tripathi said.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of them.
Acting on the complaint by Ramesh Yadav’s son, a case was filed against Virendra Singh, his son Layak Singh, Virendra’s brother Malti and his son Jandail under sections 302 (punishment for murder), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC and the Arms Act.
