Lucknow, Mar 16 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Monday expressed displeasure over poor sanitation and alleged negligence during an inspection of the community health centre (CHC) in Chinhat here, officials said.
According to an official statement, Pathak found several shortcomings during the surprise inspection, including unclean hospital premises and beds in the general ward without bed sheets.
He directed officials to issue notices to those responsible and ordered the deduction of one week’s payment of the sanitation agency.
The deputy chief minister, who also holds the portfolio of the health department, reached the CHC unannounced and first stood in a queue at the registration counter among patients to assess the situation.
He also interacted with patients to gather feedback about hospital facilities. He later inspected the pathology department where a long queue of patients was waiting.
Pathak asked technicians about the time taken to collect blood samples and instructed them to speed up the process so that patients do not have to wait for long.
During the inspection, dust was found around the X-ray room and he immediately directed the staff to ensure cleaning. He also checked stock records by opening cupboards and reviewed arrangements in the OPD room number five.
In general ward number 28, the deputy chief minister expressed displeasure over poor cleanliness and missing bed sheets on several beds, warning the staff that negligence in patient care would not be tolerated.
He also inspected toilets and drinking water facilities, which were found unsatisfactory, and ordered immediate corrective steps. PTI ABN ABN KSS KSS
