Seraikela (Jharkhand), Apr 8 (PTI) Union minister Sanjay Seth on Wednesday chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan and reviewed the implementation of government schemes across multiple departments, an official statement said.

Seth assessed the progress of schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, electricity, drinking water and sanitation, MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, education, health, social welfare, and road construction, and asked officials to expedite projects that were lagging.

He instructed that dilapidated electric poles and wiring be repaired on a priority basis to ensure uninterrupted power supply and warned that any compromise with quality would invite stringent action against responsible contractors.

On drinking water, the Union minister of state for defence directed the repair of faulty deep bore wells and water projects, expansion of piped water supply, and regular block-wise inspections of schemes.

He also emphasised the immediate repair of damaged roads and said contractors failing their responsibilities should be blacklisted.

Stressing education, the minister called for 100 per cent student enrollment, availability of basic amenities, and provision of sports kits in all schools, including residential institutions.

He also highlighted the need to operationalise urban solid waste management units, ensure regular garbage collection, and run awareness campaigns on the harmful effects of plastic and thermocol.

Khunti MP Kalicharan Munda, Singhbhum MP Joba Majhi, MLAs, Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh, SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat were present on the occasion. PTI BS MNB
