Jhansi (UP), Apr 7 (PTI) An unauthorised shrine built on land belonging to the Jhansi Development Authority (JDA) in the city was demolished on Tuesday in the presence of a heavy police force and administrative officials, authorities said.

The action was carried out at a site located on the road from Muktakashi Manch towards Jharna Gate, where a structure known as Hazrat Imrati Sahab Baba Mazar had been erected.

A JDA team, accompanied by police personnel, reached the spot in the afternoon and demolished the structure, removing debris from the site, officials said.

Executive Engineer Rajkumar, who was present during the operation, said that encroachment had taken place on the authority’s land over the past few years.

“Several notices were issued to the encroachers earlier. They had partially removed the encroachment on their own, but the remaining portion has now been cleared following due legal process,” he said.

Police and administrative officials remained present at the site to ensure law and order during the demolition drive, he added. PTI COR KIS KSS KSS
