Gorakhpur (UP), Mar 10 (PTI) Two youths returning from a wedding procession were killed after their car rammed into a roadside tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district early Tuesday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Atul Kumar Pandey (30) and Akash Pal (25). Police said Pandey ran a clothing shop in Bariyarpur town, where Pal worked as an employee.
The accident took place near Ghataila Ghazi on the Sonughat-Mahuani road under the Bariyarpur police station limits, they said. Pandey’s brother’s wedding procession had gone to the Hata area of Kushinagar district on Monday. After the ceremony and the bride’s farewell, Pandey was returning home by car and was on his way to drop Pal at his residence.
According to police, the car, which was moving at a high speed, went out of control and crashed into a tree along the roadside. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the vehicle badly damaged and trapping the two occupants inside.
Locals informed the police about the accident in the early hours of Tuesday. With the help of residents, police pulled the two youths out of the wrecked vehicle, but they had already died, officials said.
The bodies were sent for postmortem examination, and further investigation into the incident is underway, police added. PTI COR KIS HIG HIG
