New Tehri, Apr 2 (PTI) Two people were killed after a dumper truck plunged into a deep gorge here, police said on Thursday.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday when the driver of the truck lost control, and the truck fell into a 100-meter-deep gorge.

Upon receiving information, police rushed to the scene and carried out rescue and relief operations. The truck driver, Suraj Rathod (44), a resident of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, and Gajendra Rangad (36), a resident of Rauniya village in Tehri, were seriously injured, police said.

The victims were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them dead.
