Jaipur, Apr 9 (PTI) A sleeper bus rammed into a stationary trailer truck carrying iron rods on the Jaipur-Delhi national highway in Rajasthan’s Kotpulti, leaving two persons dead and 16 others injured, police said on Thursday.

The accident occurred Wednesday night on a flyover near BDM Hospital. The impact was severe as iron rods loaded on the trailer truck pierced through the front cabin of the bus, causing injuries to the driver and some passengers.

The bus was travelling from Makrana to Haridwar with around 22 passengers when the accident took place.

The deceased have been identified as bus driver Chandramohan, a resident of Ladoli village in Nagaur district, and a woman passenger, Bichchu Devi.

The injured were admitted to the government BDM Hospital, where they were given primary treatment and later discharged, police said.

Kotputli SHO Rajesh Sharma said the damaged vehicles were later removed with the help of a crane to restore traffic on the highway.

“The trailer driver fled the spot. Further action is being taken,” he said. PTI AG DV DV
