New Delhi, Apr 2 (PTI) Two people who allegedly climbed onto the tin shed of the (wuzu khana) of a mosque and waved a saffron flag in southeast Delhi’s Tughlakabad area during a Shobha Yatra on Wednesday, police said.

Earlier a police office had said that they have detained two people.

The incident occurred around 1:30 pm when a religious procession was passing through the area, an officer said.

According to police, the men managed to climb onto the tin shed of the mosque’s ablution area and waved the flag, triggering concern among locals.

Beat staff present in the area on motorcycles noticed the act and immediately intervened, bringing both down from the structure without any delay, the officer said.

Senior police officers soon reached the spot and held discussions with members of the mosque committee and the residents to defuse any tension.

“The situation is completely under control and peaceful. Prompt action by the beat staff helped prevent any escalation,” a senior police officer said. PTI BM BM HIG HIG HIG
