Jhansi (UP), Apr 6 (PTI) Two farmers died after getting electrocuted while irrigating their fields in the Babina area of Jhansi, police said on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Sarman Pal (58) and Dev Singh (55), residents of Mathurapura village. Their adjoining fields were located in the Babina area, officials said.

According to the police, both farmers had gone to their respective fields on Sunday night to irrigate crops and guard them. When they did not return by morning, their family members went to check on them and found them lying unconscious near broken electric wires.

Villagers separated them from the wires and rushed them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Station House Officer Vinay Kumar Sahu said the two farmers died due to electrocution in their fields.

“The bodies have been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation into the incident is underway,” he said. PTI COR KIS KSS KSS
