India’s premier quiz competition ConQuest 2024 made its way to Bengaluru for the last of the regional rounds on 30 November, where teams from National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and KLE Law College bagged the top two spots, advancing to the national finals.

This is the eighth edition of ConQuest Quiz, an annual constitutional education initiative by the Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) and its ConstitutionofIndia.net project, aimed at promoting and sustaining a constitutional culture in India.

For the South Regional round, 45 three-member teams from various institutions came together at Bengaluru’s Ramaiah College of Law.

After a 20-question preliminary round, two teams from NLSIU, and one team each from KLE Law College, Indian Institute of Science, Christ University and Ramaiah College progressed to the final round.

The quiz covered a wide range of topics—from historical events, such as the Munshi-Ayyangar formula on the Official Language issue in the Constituent Assembly, to contemporary developments, like Shabnam Bano becoming the first transperson in a legislative assembly, and Sir Tanjore Madhava Rao’s role in shaping governance principles for Princely States.

The two NLSIU teams clinched first and third place, while KLE Law College got the middle spot.

The event was attended by Prof Rishikesha T. Krishnan, director of Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, as the Guest of Honour. He also interacted with the finalists and students in the audience. Incidentally, Prof Rishikesha’s two great grandfathers were members of the Constituent Assembly: VT Krishnamachari and N Gopalaswami Ayyangar.

The National Finals of ConQuest 2024 were held on 6 December at Ramaiah College.
