Chennai, Mar 19 (PTI) Congress leader Karti Chidambaram on Thursday said the party would release its election manifesto for Tamil Nadu within 10 days, describing the upcoming document as a blueprint for the party’s action plan over the next five years.

Speaking to reporters after the first preliminary meeting of the manifesto committee, Chidambaram said that the party had held a free and frank discussion to identify the primary problems facing the people of the state.

“The first meeting has taken place. In this, everyone has shared their preliminary opinions. After this, we intend to conduct meetings in many places, gather the public’s opinions, and prepare the election manifesto. We plan to prepare the election manifesto within the next 10 days,” the Sivaganga MP said.

He noted that while the timeframe is short, the committee intends to conduct meetings in various locations to gather public feedback effectively before finalising the draft.

The Congress leader emphasised that the new manifesto would be a fresh document unrelated to previous election promises. He stated that it would clearly outline the specific issues the party intends to champion in the coming years.

A key highlight of the party’s strategy involves the creation of a simplified version of its goals.

Chidambaram expressed his desire to release a brief summary the size of a postcard, designed to be easily read and understood by the general public. He said this condensed version is intended to capture the imagination of the people of Tamil Nadu and serve as a heart-felt action plan for the party.

Responding to queries regarding past promises and administrative issues in neighboring Puducherry, Chidambaram maintained that the current exercise is focused on creating a forward-looking roadmap. He added that the party would work tirelessly over the next 10 days to ensure the manifesto is ready for release.

The Assembly elections in the state will be held on April 23. PTI JR JR KH
