Chennai, Apr 2 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday said that the people of the state will give a clear electoral endorsement to the good governance of the DMK government, enabling the party to return to power for the second successive time.

Udhayanidhi, who is seeking re-election from the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni Assembly constituency in Chennai, said he would win by a huge margin this time too.

The Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 23.

“The people of this constituency gave me the first opportunity in the 2021 Assembly election, to serve them. I have been with the people during the covid, rains, and on all occasions ensuring development and responding to their requests. I am sure that the people will give a clear mandate to the DMK-led alliance this time too,” Udhayanidhi told reporters in the midst of his campaign in the city.

The 48-year-old DMK youth wing secretary filed his nomination papers earlier in the day seeking to contest for the second time from the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency and hit the campaign trail in the evening.

Asked about his victory prospects, Udhayanidhi replied, “I will certainly try and win by a huge margin. Chennai is DMK’s fort. Our Chief Minister M K Stalin and the state government have brought several initiatives, including stormwater drainage. The people will support the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and give a clear mandate this time also.” Accompanied by party leaders and cadres, Udhayanidhi undertook a door-to-door campaign highlighting the DMK’s achievements during the last five years.
