TMC nominee Madhuparna Thakur’s assets rise by Rs 16 lakh since 2024

Kolkata, Apr 13 (PTI) Trinamool Congress candidate Madhuparna Thakur reported that her total assets have increased by over Rs 16 lakh since 2024, according to her poll affidavit for the 2026 assembly election.

The TMC’s Bagda (SC) nominee has declared Rs 55.57 lakh as the value of her total assets, which were Rs 39 lakh in 2024 when she was first fielded as a candidate in a by-poll.

As per her current affidavit, Thakur reported cash in hand at Rs 32,520 and bank deposits totalling Rs 2,65,010.

Thakur owns 138.62 grams of gold jewellery, valued at approximately Rs 19,91,970. Her total movable assets are valued at Rs 22,89,501, the affidavit said.

The value of her total immovable assets, including two agricultural land parcels and two residential houses, stands approximately at Rs 32,62,810.

The TMC candidate, whose cousin is Union minister and BJP MP from Bongaon Santanu Thakur, is a BSC (Hons) graduate in Zoology from West Bengal State University.

Madhuparna Thakur was pitted against her sister-in-law Soma Thakur, a first-time contestant.

Soma Thakur’s total assets are valued at 4.49 lakh, according to her election affidavit.

Her total movable assets are pegged at Rs 3,40,480. She has also reported a joint loan liability of Rs 86,900 with her husband.

Soma Thakur, the wife of Santanu Thakur, declared cash in hand at Rs 40,250 and bank deposits of Rs 1,06,407.

Her gold holdings stand at 70 grams, valued at Rs 1,93,823.

On the immovable assets front, Soma Thakur does not own any land individually.

She has a share in a jointly owned house with her share valued at Rs 1,09,033. PTI SUS NNNN
