Kolkata, Apr 1 (PTI) The TMC on Wednesday alleged large-scale discrepancies in voter enrolment in West Bengal, claiming multiple instances of duplicate and fraudulent entries in the electoral rolls during the ongoing publication of supplementary lists.

In a representation to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the party flagged alleged irregularities in enumeration forms and Form 6 submissions, used for including names in the voter list.

Senior TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien told reporters that several residents of Bihar have been enrolled in West Bengal’s voter list despite reportedly having voted in the assembly polls in the neighbouring state last year.

“We have drawn the urgent intervention of the CEO, demanding that these anomalies be rectified immediately. We are appalled at the role of the Chief Election Commissioner, who has failed to reply to a single communication from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about multiple discrepancies and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision exercise of electoral rolls,” O’Brien said.

He added that opposition parties had moved Parliament for the impeachment of the CEC, but despite the Lok Sabha session ending on Thursday, there was no update from the secretariat on the motion.

O’Brien, accompanied by senior TMC leader and minister Bratya Basu, cited five specific cases of voters being simultaneously enrolled in different states, particularly Bihar and West Bengal, in violation of electoral norms.

In one instance, a woman is listed in Bihar’s voter roll for 2025 with EPIC number BYD4595792 and is also enrolled in West Bengal with EPIC number ARZ2693778, the party claimed. She is registered under Bihar Assembly Constituency (AC) 115, Part 214, and West Bengal AC 276, Part 245.

In another case, the party claimed that two individuals are registered as voters in multiple constituencies in Bihar — AC 108 and AC 109 — while also being enrolled in West Bengal.

The memorandum alleged manipulation of records through minor variations in names, with different entries listing his father with slightly different names.

The voter ID numbers cited include BR/05/034/303199 and CJR1209394.

The TMC further alleged that another person, bearing EPIC number AHE0266973 in Bihar, is also registered in West Bengal with EPIC number ARZ2693729.

The party alleged that both he and his spouse are voting in the two states and documentary proof has been submitted to the authorities.

Additionally, two women have been cited as being enrolled in both Bihar and West Bengal voter lists.

Their EPIC numbers in West Bengal are ARZ22933356 and ARZ2365617, respectively, while their Bihar voter ID numbers are CTT1426691 and SSG1926278, the party alleged.

O-Brien said the TMC has also submitted enumeration forms tracing their Bihar constituency details.

Basu alleged that such discrepancies indicate “systematic misuse” of enumeration forms, Form 6 applications, and confirm lapses in verification during the preparation of supplementary electoral rolls.

“We urge the West Bengal CEO to conduct a thorough investigation, delete duplicate entries and initiate strict action against those responsible,” Basu said.

There was no immediate response from the CEO’s office or the Election Commission regarding the allegations.

On Monday, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had met the CEO, alleging that large numbers of Form 6 applications were being clandestinely submitted at the CEO’s office to include residents of neighbouring BJP-ruled states and Haryana, allegedly altering West Bengal’s demographic pattern and removing names of lakhs of bona fide residents to reduce the TMC’s vote share.
