New Delhi: Actor Sonu Sood Tuesday announced that he will be helping around 3,000 stranded students in Kyrgyzstan come back to India.

The first chartered flight from Kyrgyzstan to Varanasi will operate Wednesday (22 July), followed by charters for other states, the actor tweeted.

Sood had first announced the chartered flights from Kyrgyzstan on 13 July, calling it his “next mission”.

Two days later, on 15 July, Sood again tweeted saying his team will not charge any amount for arranging the homecoming travel for stranded students.

Social media users praise Sood

Soon after Sood made the announcement, Twitter users praised the actor for the gesture.

One user wrote, “Who are you?…. You are inspiring in India. Get ready for next election… Hats off you to you Sonu Sir.”

Another user of the micro blogging site compared Sood to fictional character Superman. “Even the Superman thinks twice to take flight in this crisis time, you are making this normal for each Indian who is stranded abroad. Your gesture will be remembered forever. Thank You for your service,” wrote the user.

Another even compared Sood to former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and wrote, “Last time I checked, it was Sushma Swaraj ji who used to work day/night to bring Indians to their homeland and now its you sir, I pray that you always stay happy and may god give you more success in coming years.”
