Bhagalpur, Mar 11 (PTI) Three youths of a family drowned in the Ganga in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district on Wednesday morning while trying to save their aunt, officials said.

The incident took place around 9:30 am near a ghat in Ghogha police station area, where the family had gathered for a ‘mundan’ (tonsure) ceremony.

The deceased have been identified as Krishna Kumar (26), Sunny Kumar (24) and Bobby Kumar (26).

They used to live in Delhi but had come to their native Olapur village to take part in the ceremony.

Talking to reporters, Ghogha SHO Ashutosh Kumar said, “The three men jumped into the river to rescue a drowning woman, but they went deep into the water and drowned.” Police said the woman, Rukmani Devi (35), was rescued with the help of locals and later admitted to a private clinic.
