Three children drown in Manipur’s Churachandpur

Churachandpur, Mar 24 (PTI) Three children, including two siblings, drowned in a water-filled pit at a construction site near a security forces camp in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Tuesday, officials said.

The children, aged 3 to 5 years, drowned in a nearly four-foot deep pit filled with rainwater, near a security forces training centre at Gangpimual village. The children were playing when they accidentally fell into the pit, a district official said.

The recently dug pit was filled with rainwater, the official said.

The children were rushed to Churachandpur District Hospital but were declared brought dead.
