On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, The Oberoi Group has announced the launch of a scholarship programme with an aim to nurture exceptional talent and leadership within the hospitality industry.

Vikram Oberoi, CEO, The Oberoi Group, said the programme is a “testament to the vision” of the group’s founders Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi and former executive chairman Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi.

“By supporting and developing outstanding talent, we aim to foster innovation, leadership, and a commitment to exceptional guest experiences,” he was quoted as saying in a press statement.

Arjun Oberoi, executive chairman, The Oberoi Group, added that the initiative “honours the legacy of our founders, Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi and Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi, by empowering exceptional individuals to become world-class hoteliers, continuing our tradition of nurturing talent and leadership in the hospitality industry”.

The programme will offer two distinct scholarships.

The first, Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi – ‘Dare to Dream’ Scholarship will be open to hotel operations employees from hotels outside The Oberoi Group in India

The second, Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi – ‘Be the Best’ Scholarship will be available for hotel operations employees from The Oberoi Group in India and overseas.

According to The Oberoi Group, both scholarships offer an opportunity for hotel operations employees to pursue a Masters of Business Administration in Hospitality at Switzerland’s Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL).

Those awarded the scholarships will be entitled to a two-year MBA programme that will combine virtual learning with a three-week on-site experience at the EHL campus in Lausanne, Switzerland. Further, the scholarship programme will also include stays at leading hotels around the world as part of a ‘Best Practice Tour’ each of the two years.

On the scholarship programme, Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa and former CEO of the central government think tank NITI Aayog, said, “The Oberoi Group Scholarship Programme is a worthy homage to this distinguished legacy, ensuring that future leaders uphold the group’s tradition of exceptional service and excellence.”

KB Kachru, president of the Hotels Association of India, added, “The Oberoi Group Scholarship Program is a transformative step towards shaping the future of hospitality in India. By empowering young talent with world-class education, The Oberoi Group is fostering innovation and excellence that will resonate across the industry. The Hotels Association of India fully endorses this inspiring initiative.”
