Thane, Mar 10 (PTI) Three persons were injured after a test-drive car lost control, rammed into parked vehicles and plunged into a deep construction pit in Maharashtra’s Thane city on Tuesday evening, officials said.
The accident occurred at 7.28 pm near a hotel in the Pachpakhadi area of Naupada, said the district Disaster Management Cell.
A Tata Curvv test-drive vehicle went out of control, hit an auto-rickshaw and two parked two-wheelers on the roadside before falling into a pit dug for a building construction project, which was around 20 feet deep, an official said.
Three persons travelling in the car were trapped inside after the vehicle plunged into the ditch. The trio, who suffered injures, was rescued by local residents before emergency teams reached the spot, the official said.
The injured included an employee of the automobile showroom from where the car was taken for test drive, he added.
Authorities said the deployment of airbags in the vehicle prevented more serious injuries to the occupants. PTI COR RSY
