Hyderabad, Mar 29 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said his government has drawn up plans for the protection of cows in the state.
He said foundation stone has been laid for construction of a ‘goshala’ (cow shelter) on a spacious site and equipped with state-of-the-art amenities at Yenkapally.
Plans have been finalised for setting up ‘goshalas’ in various parts of the state, including in the vicinity of prominent temples, Reddy told a delegation led by animal rights activist and former Union minister Maneka Gandhi, which met him here, an official release said.
Officials briefed Maneka Gandhi on the measures taken within the limits of the state’s municipalities for the management of stray dogs and the protection of cows, it said.
They also made a presentation on the ongoing sterilisation drives for stray dogs across the municipalities.
They also briefed the delegation of the ground-level measures being implemented for animal protection.
