Hyderabad, Mar 22 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday said, beginning today, Rs 9,000 crore under the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ investment support scheme will be credited in three installments, to 70 lakh farmers within 45 days Addressing a rally after inaugurating an oil palm processing factory at Narmeta village in Siddipet district, Reddy said the Congress government has been spending an average of Rs 5,500 crore for farmers’ welfare, compared to Rs 2,700 crore during the previous BRS regime.

Amid the ongoing Iran-US conflict and the West Asia crisis, CM Revanth Reddy warned farmers of a potential fertilizer shortage in the coming days.

“Within 45 days from now Rs 9,000 crore in Rythu Bharossa funds will be credited to 70 lakh farmers,” he said.

The CM said the first tranche of payment, Rs 3600 crore, will be done tomorrow, another Rs 5,400 crore will be released in the next 20 days and the rest will be credited in another 20 days from then.

Telangana has procured 71 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. However, the central government is not procuring more than 50 lakh metric tonnes. So a plan has to be formulated for crop diversification to ensure that farming becomes a profitable venture.

Noting that the government is making efforts to facilitate the export of agricultural produce to international markets, the CM stressed that every crop grown in Telangana should be profitable.

Amid the prevailing situation in West Asia, he instructed the authorities concerned to convince the union government for more fertilizer supplies to Telangana.

“We must meet with Prime Minister Modi and strive to secure the maximum possible allocation of urea for our state. This is not the time for politics and moving forward with coordination and unity. We do politics only during the elections. Once the elections are over, the development of the state becomes the sole priority,” Reddy said.

On the plan to promote the oil palm industry, he said his government is ready to purchase the produce in 10 lakhs acres also.

CM Revanth Reddy highlighted that the government was providing compensation to farmers who lost their crops and had already spent over Rs 1 lakh crore on farmers’ welfare within just two years.

The CM also said the state government is launching Telangana Public Schools in the upcoming academic year, aiming to compete with private and corporate institutions.

The proposal to overhaul all government schools is under active consideration and there are also plans to establish more Advanced Training Centers to provide skills training to the youth.

Revanth Reddy instructed the officials concerned to increase the membership of women’s self-help groups in urban areas as well and said the government has already provided Rs 57,000 crores of loans to women groups through bank linkages.

The CM inaugurated several projects and laid foundation stones for multiple development works worth Rs 775.72 crore in Siddipet district. PTI GDK ROH
