Chandigarh, Apr 1 (PTI) Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday termed H S Phoolka’s entry into BJP “symbiotic opportunism”, claiming it would have no impact on the state beyond the day’s headlines.
In a statement here, Warring alleged that the development reflected the BJP’s “desperation to induct leaders from outside” to contest elections in Punjab.
He said a party aspiring to form the government on its own should not depend on “outsiders”, as he claimed the BJP was doing.
Warring further alleged that much of the BJP’s leadership in Punjab had come from other parties and cited names of several such leaders.
The Congress leader said he would not go into Phoolka’s past statements about the BJP, but claimed those remarks were “still fresh” in public memory.
He also noted that when Phoolka joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014, he had made similar comments.
Meanwhile, Warring raised concern over reported damage to the standing wheat crop due to unseasonal rains and strong winds.
He demanded an immediate, time-bound survey and compensation for affected farmers. PTI VSD PRK
