Bhopal, Mar 22 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh BJP has appointed Swapna Verma, a medical professional-turned-social worker as the general secretary of its Mahila Morcha in the state.
Her appointment is being viewed as a significant step aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to induct one lakh first-generation youth into active political roles, party sources said.
It also reflects the BJP’s broader organisational strategy of integrating individuals without traditional political lineage into positions of responsibility, strengthening the party’s ethos of “Sabka Prayas (collective effort)”, they added.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Verma (40), along with her husband Amit Verma, who is also a doctor, committed to dedicating their resources and professional expertise towards the free treatment of underprivileged communities, which led to the establishment of the Madhurima Sewa Sanskar Foundation.
Operating extensively across the Satna and Rewa regions of Madhya Pradesh, the foundation has organised large-scale health camps and awareness drives.
According to the foundation, more than six lakh individuals have benefitted from free health screenings, medical consultations and financial assistance for treatment, marking one of the region’s most impactful community healthcare initiatives.
Verma was among a select group of 10 individuals from across India recognised for transformative contributions in their respective sectors during the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue held at Bharat Mandapam on National Youth Day in 2025.
During the interaction, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally acknowledged her efforts in building a scalable, community-driven healthcare model.
Her work was presented as a case study in combining social entrepreneurship with public health outreach—an approach increasingly relevant in India’s development narrative. PTI PLB PK PK MNK MNK
