Hyderabad, Mar 17 (PTI) Citing a Hindi poem of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Tuesday emphasised the importance of staying rooted to culture.
Speaking at pre-Ugadi (Telugu New Year) celebrations held at the Lok Bhavan here, he recalled Vajpayee’s famous lines, ‘Chhote man se koi bada nahi hota aur tute man se koi khada nahi hota’ (no one can become great with a narrow mind, no one can stand tall with a broken heart).
“We stay connected to our culture. Our culture will make us great,” Shukla said.
Earlier, delivering his speech in Telugu, he conveyed greetings on the occasion of Ugadi, which falls on March 19.
He expressed hope that the new Telugu New Year, named ‘Paraabhava’, would bring health and happiness to all.
‘Paraabhava’ means eliminating arrogance and bad thoughts and paving way for victory, he said.
Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and several other leaders and officials attended the event. PTI SJR SJR ROH
