Shimla, April 8 (PTI) A major accident was averted in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Wednesday after a part of a road in a landslide-hit area sank when a state transport bus tried to pass over it, causing a front tyre of the bus to go over the edge and remain suspended, triggering panic among passengers and locals.

According to officials, the incident took place on the Kugti-Bharmour road when the a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus carrying around 20 passengers was on its way to Bharmour.

A minor landslide had taken place along the route and when the bus tried to move through the area, a part of the road sank under its weight. As a result, a front tyre of the bus went over the road’s edge, causing the bus to remain suspended.

The vehicle was later pulled out from the spot with the help of a JCB, officials said. PTI COR ARB ARB
