New Delhi, Mar 23 (PTI) Sikkim Krantikari Morcha MP Indra Hang Subba on Monday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving head of a government with 8,931 continuous days in office since 2001.

He said it happened due to steps taken by the prime minister for the economic empowerment of people, providing dignity, rights and leadership to women among others.

During Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Subba also highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision for all-around development of the Northeast region.

PM Modi has surpassed former Sikkim chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling’s record to become India’s longest-serving head of a government, he said.

Subba said Modi, during his nearly 12 years in government at the Centre, has brought transformative infrastructure like Pakyong Airport in Sikkim, which is the first in the hill state, and constructed 81,000 km of rural roads under PMGSY besides bringing 25 crore people out of poverty line through various initiatives.

Subba also credited the prime minister with opening 55 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts, construction of three crore PMAY homes, 43 crore Ayushman cards, tap water to people under the Jal Jeevan Mission and 57 crore collateral-free MUDRA loans.

He said the prime minister empowered women by bringing about the law reserving 33 per cent of the seats in the Lok Sabha and assemblies, building 12 crore Swachh Bharat toilets and distributing 10 crore free LPG connections under PM Ujjwala Yojana.

Bold moves like revoking Article 370, surgical strikes, construction of Ram Mandir, self-reliance in defence and technology are helping achieve the prime minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, he said. PTI ACB ACB KSS KSS
