New Delhi: Shots were fired at Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court on Wednesday afternoon as a result of an argument between lawyers, the police said.

One video of the ruckus showed a man brandishing a gun and firing in the air.

Another showed a man loading a gun first and then firing with impunity. Several people also carried rods.

There were no reports of injury.

After the incident, Bar Council of Delhi Chairman K.K. Manan said no lawyer could use weapons inside or around court premises. He said a detailed inquiry into the matter would be undertaken, which would also probe whether the weapons were licenced. “Even if it was licenced, no lawyer or anyone else can fire inside a court,” Manan added.

The Delhi Police later said the shots were fired by lawyers and office bearers. The cops have also initiated legal action.
