Sultanpur (UP), Dec 1 (PTI) Three cops including a Station House officer (SHO) have been suspended for alleged detention of a man here, police said on Thursday.

Rajju Lal was allegedly illegally detained for three days at Rural police station after some persons set afire a shop in Dharmganj bazar here, they said.

On Wednesday, Lal’s mother Rajdei (60) also died while crossing the road in front of the police station, where she had gone to meet her son.

Additional Superintendent of Police Vipul Srivastav said that three policemen have been suspended by SP, Somen Burma, for allegedly detaining Lal for three days in the police station.

Those suspended included SHO Chandrabhan Verma, Sub inspector Anand Gautam and a constable, the official said.

Lal alleged that there was a conspiracy as he was detained though there was no complaint against him regarding the fire incident.

He further alleged said that the police had demanded money from his mother for his release. PTI CORR ABN RCJ
