Imphal, Apr 1 (PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh to accelerate the peace process in the ethnic strife-torn state, an official statement said on Wednesday.

Shah had discussed Manipur’s law and order situation with Singh during a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, the statement added.

During the meeting, Shah reviewed the prevailing security scenario in the state and directed the CM to expedite the peace process and strengthen the growing harmony among different communities.

Shah also gave in-principle approval for raising one Mahila India Reserve Battalion (IRB) for Manipur and asked Singh to send a formal proposal. PTI COR MNB
