New Delhi, Apr 9 (PTI) The eCommittee of the Supreme Court, in collaboration with the Department of Justice, is set to organise a two-day national conference on ‘Judicial Process Re-Engineering and Digital Transformation’ in New Delhi on April 11 and 12.

The conference will be held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Additional Buildings Complex of the apex court and will focus on strengthening the use of technology in the justice delivery system, according to an official press note.

Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant will deliver the inaugural address at the event. Supreme Court judge Justice Vikram Nath, who chairs the eCommittee, and Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Jitin Prasada are also scheduled to address the inaugural session.

The conference is being organised in the backdrop of the eCourts Mission Mode Project, a nationwide initiative launched under the National Policy and Action Plan for implementation of information and communication technology in the judiciary to improve efficiency, transparency and access to justice.

During the event, several digital initiatives under Phase III of the eCourts project will be launched, including the Biennial Report on the project phase, the eCourts Single Sign-On (SSO) service portal, electronic delivery of summons through email, integration of eCourts with ePrison systems and Version 4.0 of the eCourts Services mobile application.

The conference will bring together Supreme Court judges, chief justices and judges of various high courts, officials from the Department of Justice, Ministry of Home Affairs, National Crime Records Bureau and the National Informatics Centre, among others, to deliberate on strengthening digital governance in the judiciary.

The initiative aims to explore strategies to optimise judicial processes through digital innovation while improving transparency, productivity and citizen access to justice, the press note said. PTI SKM PRK
