Satna, Mar 28 (PTI) A female sambar fawn was killed by a pack of stray dogs in a paddy field in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district on Saturday, a forest department official said.

The incident took place in the morning in ward number 15 of Chaubepur village near a residential area of Chitrakoot nagar panchayat, about 45 kilometres from the district headquarters, he added.

“The fawn strayed into the field from the nearby forest. It was attacked by stray dogs, resulting in severe injuries. The villagers managed to drive the canines away. However, the fawn died before the forest team could reach the spot,” area ranger Abhishek Mishra told PTI.

A probe has begun into the incident, he added. PTI LAL BNM
