Rishikesh, Apr 12 (PTI) The operator of a camp in Shivpuri, located in the Muni Ki Reti area near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the assault of tourists from Delhi who were staying at the camp, police said.
According to the police, Dushyant Singh was arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday at ‘Camp Haveli,’ situated on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway.
The police said that the accused hails from the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh and was arrested based on a written complaint filed by Deepak Soni, a tourist from Delhi’s Uttam Nagar.
Pradeep Chauhan, the Inspector-in-Charge of the Muni Ki Reti police station, said that according to the complaint, Deepak Soni and his friend Saurabh Seth were staying at the camp on Friday. While heading to bed after dinner that night, they requested the camp operator to lower the volume of a DJ system.
It is alleged that the operator became enraged at this request, verbally abused them and also threatened them.
Chauhan further said that according to the written complaint, the operator, accompanied by three associates, entered the tourists’ room around 2:30 am and physically assaulted them. PTI DPT RHL MNK MNK
