Mumbai, Mar 25 (PTI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Nitin Sardesai has said the Railways must restart the Dadar-Ratnagiri train and warned of agitation if the demand is not met.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after an MNS delegation met railway officials, Sardesai said the Dadar-Ratnagiri passenger train has been moved to Diva in neighbouring Thane district.
This train was very convenient for people hailing from Konkan and residing in Dadar, Parel, Sewree and the western suburbs here, he noted.
“They (railway authorities) are refusing to start the train from Dadar again and instead starting the Dadar-Gorakhpur train. It is not possible for those staying in Dadar, Lalbaugh, Parel and the western suburbs to go to Diva and take that train. It is simply not feasible,” Sardesai said.
The railways have shown the willingness to restart the train, but it has to be seen if they fulfil the demand, he said.
“We will launch an agitation if the demand is not met, and then the Railways will be responsible for it,” the MNS leader added. PTI PR GK
