Ranchi, Apr 13 (PTI) Ranchi Mayor Roshni Khalkho on Monday led a rally to spread awareness on cleanliness.
The rally, ‘Swachhandolan’, was taken out from the office of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) in Kutchery, and it culminated at Jaipal Singh Stadium, covering around 2 km.
Holding placards with messages such as ‘Ranchi Banega Swachh (Ranchi will become clean)’, elected members and officials of RMC, besides city residents, participated in the rally.
“The rally was aimed at spreading awareness about cleanliness and keeping our city clean,” the Ranchi mayor said.
She said they also appealed to the people to devote at least 100 hours every year or two hours per week to cleanliness.
The Jharkhand capital ranked 37th out of 40 among million-plus cities in 2024-25 in the Centre’s ‘Swacch Sarvekshan’.
An RMC official said they are making all efforts to improve the ranking in 2025-26 through public awareness, sanitation and waste management. PTI SAN ACD
