Ahmedabad, Mar 26 (PTI) From colourful shobha yatras to innovative youth-led events, devotees across Gujarat celebrated Ram Navami on Thursday with fervour, filling cities with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and creative expressions of devotion.

Shobha Yatras (processions) were organised in many cities of the state, including Rajkot and Vadodara, to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Ram. Streets came alive with vibrant displays, devotional songs, and community participation.

Adding to the festive fervour, the ISKCON temple in Ahmedabad hosted a grand celebration featuring ‘Sri Ram Darbar Abhishek’ and a traditional ’56 bhog’ offering in the morning.

The temple is also set to organise a palki procession and Ram Katha in the evening, drawing large numbers of devotees, according to the official social media account of the organisation.

The youth, meanwhile, were embracing innovative ways to celebrate. In Adalaj, a bhajan jamming event is scheduled for the evening, where a live fusion band will blend traditional devotional music with contemporary sounds, reflecting a modern take on spiritual expression, as per an event booking website.

In Surat, a bikers’ group added a creative twist to the festivities. Around 90 riders travelled to Dabhari beach, where 65 motorbikes were carefully arranged to spell out ‘Ram’, symbolising devotion through a display of unity and passion.

“Every Ram Bhakt has their own way to express love – some organise shobha yatras, bhandaras, and aartis. This is our way of celebrating, portraying the powerful name ‘Ram’ through our favourite bikes,” the group’s founder, Pinank Mashruwala, told PTI. PTI KVM PD GK
