Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 1 (PTI) Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday used the Shaktimaan analogy at election meetings in Kerala to argue that the CPI(M)-led LDF and Congress-led UDF are merely two masks worn by the same political entity — rivals in the state, but allies everywhere else.
Singh, in his speeches at the Paravur and Negumangad assembly constituencies in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, respectively, also referred to the Malayalam movies, Basil Joseph starred ‘Ponman’ and Mammootty’s famed ‘Bramayugam’.
He was in poll-bound Kerala for election-related public meetings in the two constituencies.
Referring to the Hindi superhero serial, which starred Mukesh Khanna in the titular role, the defence minister said that just like the hero Shaktimaan’s alter ego was Pandit Gangadhar, the UDF and LDF were the same.
Superstar Mammootty starrer ‘Bramayugam’ was also mentioned by Singh.
He said that everyone in Kerala must have seen the movie ‘Bramayugam’ and the people will move to Satyugam, indicating that the BJP will come to power in the state.
The defence minister referred to the ‘Ponman’ movie with regard to the alleged state-sponsored gold smuggling that occurred in 2020 and claimed that people close to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were involved in that.
He also mentioned ‘The Kerala Story’ movie and said that the Kerala story should not be about what was shown in the film.
“It should be about development, progress, prosperity and peace,” he said.
The Assembly elections in Kerala will be held on April 9. PTI HMP KH
