Jaipur, Mar 12 (PTI) Rajasthan witnessed a marginal dip in temperatures on Thursday, with the weather office predicting a two to three degrees drop in temperatures over the next few days owing to a western disturbance.

The Jaipur Meteorological Centre said a fresh western disturbance is likely to become active over the region, bringing partial cloud cover over the next two to three days. A drop of around two to three degrees in temperatures is also expected.

Some parts of the state may witness thunderstorms, light dust storms and scattered rainfall on March 14 and 15, particularly districts in Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions, besides Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts and adjoining areas.

Another western disturbance is expected between March 19 and 21, which may also trigger light thunderstorms and rainfall at isolated places in the state, the department said.

On Thursday, Kota logged the highest maximum temperature — 39.8 degrees Celsius — statewide, followed by Barmer at 39.4 degrees Celsius, Phalodi at 38.8 degrees Celsius and Chittorgarh at 38.4 degrees Celsius, according to weather office.

Churu recorded a maximum of 37.8 degrees Celsius while Pilani registered 37.7 degrees.

Several other cities including Bhilwara, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Dabok and Bikaner logged maximum temperatures around 37 degrees Celsius, while the state capital Jaipur recorded 36.4 degrees Celsius. The weather office said maximum temperatures are likely to remain two to four degrees above normal in most parts of the state over the next week, though a slight dip is expected around March 19-20 due to the fresh western disturbance.
