Jaipur, Mar 12 (PTI) A man, a married woman, and her seven-year-old daughter were found dead in the Narmada canal in Rajasthan’s Jalore district on Thursday, police said.
Primary investigation has revealed that the man and the woman were in a romantic relationship and committed suicide by jumping into the canal on early Thursday, they said.
The deceased were identified as Amrit Bhil (27), Paras Devi (30) and her daughter Khushi (7).
Paras Devi was married to Rudaram Meghwal and allegedly had an extramarital affair with Amrit from a nearby village.
“They were missing from their respective houses since last night. They reached near the canal in Chitalwana area on a motorcycle and jumped into the canal,” Chitalwana police station in charge Bhuraram said.
Before jumping into the canal, they tied themselves with a piece of cloth. Their Aadhaar cards and mobile phones were found on the motorcycle on Thursday morning, the officer added.
He said a State Disaster Response Force team was called to the spot to recover the bodies.
The bodies were taken out of the canal in the evening and shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem, he said, adding that the matter is being investigated. PTI SDA ARB ARB
