Chandigarh, Mar 29 (PTI) Rain lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, leading to a drop in day temperatures at many places, the local weather office said.
Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, received light rain and recorded a maximum temperature of 27.3 degrees Celsius, down by more than four notches against the normal limits, the weather office said.
Ambala, Panchkula and Yamunanagar in Haryana and Rupnagar, Mohali, Patiala, Phagwara, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana in Punjab were among places that received rain on Sunday.
The wet spell, however, has caused concern among the farmers, who fear that if the showers are accompanied by strong winds, they could damage the standing wheat crop.
Amritsar in Punjab recorded a high of 28.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal, while Ludhiana recorded a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.
Hisar in Haryana recorded a high of 35 degrees Celsius, down two notches, while Ambala recorded a maximum of 30.4 degrees Celsius.
