Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Mar 22 (PTI) A fire broke out at an automated driving licence test centre on Tanda Road on Sunday, causing considerable damage to the official records, police said.

No casualties were reported in the incident, police said, adding that the blaze is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Jagdeep Singh said the police received a call on an emergency helpline. Acting on the information, the police rushed to the scene along with fire tenders and brought the blaze under control after an hour-long operation.

Fire Officer Arun Kumar said two fire tenders were pressed into service, and the flames were controlled. The blaze caused considerable damage to the items inside the office, including a substantial portion of the office records.

Regional Transport Officer Amandeep Kaur said a short circuit is suspected to be the cause, adding that the exact cause is yet to be ascertained. PTI COR CHS SMV SHS SMV SHS
