Jaipur, Mar 18 (PTI) Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde urged female students to adopt a positive mindset, asserting that women are strong and their progress is essential for societal development.
While addressing a university convocation ceremony, Bagde emphasised that women are equal to men, citing the example of Rani Lakshmibai, who bravely challenged the British at a young age. “Age does not matter. If one is determined, any challenge can be overcome,” he stated.
He encouraged students to remain fearless and maintain a positive outlook in order to excel in their endeavours. Bagde highlighted the importance of enhancing intellectual capacity within universities and promoting focused learning.
The governor expressed that national prosperity should be the primary goal and stressed the need for educational reforms. Referring to the colonial-era education system established by Thomas Babington Macaulay, he noted that efforts are being made through the new education policy to reconnect India with its rich tradition of knowledge and strengthen the nation.
Bagde also pointed out the necessity of providing education that can empower the country’s large workforce to contribute to nation-building.
During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari received an honorary degree from the university for her contributions to social and community service.
