Bengaluru, Mar 25 (PTI) Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh on Wednesday ordered a preliminary inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment levelled by a woman rowdy sheeter against a police inspector, officials said.
The inquiry was initiated after the woman approached the Commissioner’s office seeking action against the inspector posted, they said.
Audio clips and text messages, purportedly of conversations between the inspector and the woman, have also surfaced on social media, police said, which are being looked into.
The preliminary inquiry is being conducted by the Assistant Commissioner of Police of the Jayanagar subdivision, they said.
“Based on the petition submitted by the complainant, a preliminary inquiry has been ordered. Allegations are being looked into and further action will be taken based on the report,” a senior police officer said.
Police said the complainant has accused the inspector of subjecting her to repeated sexual harassment, including sending inappropriate messages and making verbal advances.
Recently, a similar incident involving a police inspector posted in Mudbidri under the Mangaluru Police limits is under a CID probe over alleged misconduct with a woman, police added. PTI AMP SA
