New Delhi, Nov 14 (PTI) President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday greeted citizens on the eve of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary and asked all to adopt his teachings in their daily lives to promote unity and equality in society.
Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh guru, encouraged people to practice honesty and hard work and share their earnings with the needy, she said in her message.
The President extended greetings “on the occasion of Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji” to all Indians living in India and abroad, “especially our Sikh brothers and sisters”.
“Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Japji Sahib emphasises love, faith, truth and sacrifice. His teachings guide us towards moral ethics. He established the practice of Community Kitchen, known as Langar, and advocated brotherhood,” Murmu said.
He inspired all to follow the path of spirituality to attain knowledge and renunciation while fulfilling their social responsibilities, she said.
