Lucknow, Mar 24 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused previous governments of being anti-development, alleging that they not only broke the trust of the state but also shattered the dreams of its youth.

Adityanath made the remarks while addressing an event after launching the upgraded single-window investment portal ‘Nivesh Mitra 3.0’ here.

“Due to political reasons, previous governments broke the trust of the people. It was not just trust that was broken, but the dreams of the youth of Uttar Pradesh were shattered,” he said.

Addressing investors present at the event, the chief minister said the vision of establishing Uttar Pradesh as a preferred investment destination was conceived nine years ago and their participation was helping translate that vision into reality.

He said that under the “double-engine government”, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, efforts have been made to create an enabling environment for investors and to honour the trust reposed by them.

Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led government over the past nine years, Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a key investment destination in the country, adding that trust remains the state’s biggest asset.

Taking a swipe at the opposition, he said earlier regimes had created an identity crisis for the people of the state and raised questions over its very existence despite being the most populous state in the country.

“I can say with confidence that the trust you have shown in the double-engine government under the leadership and guidance of the prime minister has been met with consistent efforts by Team UP, and the results are visible at every level,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said there has been a significant change in the state’s environment under the present government, adding that improved law and order has boosted investor confidence. He said that before 2017, people hesitated to enter Uttar Pradesh, but now large-scale investments are taking place.

Maurya also said the state is witnessing an industrial transformation under Adityanath’s leadership, with the size of its economy steadily expanding.

Ministers Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi and Sunil Kumar Sharma also addressed the event, officials said. PTI KIS NB
