New Delhi: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has visited Udgir and addressed the gathering of beneficiaries of ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojna’ schemes of the Government of Maharashtra. The President said that the ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojna’ are important steps towards building an inclusive and prosperous society and country, a PIB press release stated.
While addressing the function, the President said that she is happy to see that women in Maharashtra are becoming self-reliant due to the schemes of the central and state governments. The President praised the state government for providing financial literacy and skills to women as well as creating employment opportunities for them.
The President further said that the state government is taking various steps for transparent and accountable governance. The government is committed to providing basic services to the citizens’ doorstep so that they do not have to run around government offices for these services.
The President expressed her satisfaction with the initiatives of women’s empowerment. She said that it is believed that if we educate a woman we educate the entire family and the future generation. It is the responsibility of all men to recognize the potential of women and support them in achieving their dreams. The President urged men to take an active interest in the development of women.
The President also appreciated the government of Maharashtra for taking various steps to ensure the health and nutrition of women. She said that it is high time that mothers and sisters take care of their own health and well-being as well as the health of their families. The President also urged the government to take steps to increase women’s participation in the workforce.
