Rishikesh, Mar 28 (PTI) Uttarakhand Police raided an illegal casino operating within a hotel in IDPL area here, recovering a large amount of cash and other items, and arrested 40 people, including 10 women, an official said on Saturday.

Following a tip-off, a team under Circle Officer Neeraj Semwal raided the Navrang Hotel, located near the IDPL City Gate, on Friday night, arresting 30 men and 10 women at the venue.

The police recovered Rs 1.35 lakh in cash, 3,356 casino coins, 26 decks of playing cards, and bottles of liquor from various brands from the scene.

The hotel has been sealed, and a case has been registered against all the accused under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Gambling Act, as well as Sections 60 and 68 of the Excise Act, police said.

Among those arrested, nine are residents of Delhi, including seven women, while the majority of the accused hail from Rishikesh and its surrounding areas.
